Ludhiana: Good news for the sports fraternity in Punjab, especially basketball, that six players from the state have been selected to take part in the upcoming qualifying matches for the FIBA World Cup. Teja Singh Dhailwal, honorary general secretary, Punjab Basketball Association, said these players, all former trainees of Ludhiana Basketball Academy, would represent Indian basketball team in the FIBA World Cup-2019 qualifiers. The players from Punjab namely Arshpreet Singh Bhullar, Satnam Singh Bhamra, Gurvinder Singh Gill, Amritpal Singh, Palpreet Singh Brar and Jagdeep Singh Bains have been selected after the preparatory coaching camp held from November 1 to 18 at Bengaluru. India plays against Syria at Beirut on November 23 and again takes them on November 26 at Bengaluru. Elated Dhaliwal said the selection of these LBA players for the Indian contingent would certainly play a vital role in motivating youngsters to work hard with dedication to carve a niche for themselves in the field of sports.
